We are thrilled to announce that after a successful turnout at last year's Pride Walk, the event is back this year! We will once again gather at the Sipekne'katik Band Office parking lot to walk to the ballfield, showing our pride, allyship, and inclusivity. Once at the ballfield, we will enjoy a delicious BBQ, the Family Well Being Program will be set up for Pride Bracelet making, and more! All are welcome to join us!

The Sipekne'katik Youth Centre is hosting a GSA meeting on Wednesday, June 11th, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. All Sipekne'katik youth aged 12 to 18 are invited to join!

There will be pride activities such as pin making and rock painting, along with refreshments provided.

What is GSA?

GSA stands for Gender and Sexuality Alliances, although it is sometimes referred to by the outdated term Gay and Straight Alliances. These clubs can be found in many high schools and universities with the purpose of creating a safe and welcoming environment for 2SLGBTQIA+ youth, as well as their allies, where they can come together to share experiences, offer support, engage in meaningful conversations, and build community.

The Sipekne'katik Family Well-Being Program is excited to pamper our men this June! They will be hosting a Men's Wellness Self-Care event for Community Members 18+!

Powwow Pals Dance Classes

For community male youth ages 4 to 11!

These classes will take place each Thursday night (starting May 29th, 2025), leading up to the Sipekne'katik First Nation Traditional Powwow.

Sipekne'katik Residential School Support Program hosts Survivors Monthly Meetings. A schedule of these meetings can be found below. Meetings take place from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at Sipekne'katik Administrative Building.

Monthly meetings with survivors and descendants are important. It allows the program to ensure that it is what the survivors and descendants want and need to help improve their lives. Meetings will be held on the last Wednesday of each month. Your voice is important. So please come to the meetings and let Shirley know what's on your mind.

They also host weekly Mi'kmaq Language Classes and Beading Classes.

April is Autism Acceptance Month, a time to promote understanding, inclusion, and advocacy while celebrating diversity and supporting acceptance. To conclude the month, we invite community members who identify as Autistic and a support person to the Autism Acceptance Month Event.

This event is designed with Autistic children and youth in mind and will feature a variety of sensory stations, refreshments, and age-appropriate swag bags.

Riparian zones are the areas of land that run along a river. They play a critical role in the productivity and health of the river, as well as protection zones for the lands beyond. Without healthy riparian zones, riverbanks are prone to erosion, biodiversity is lost, and river health can decrease. Riparian zones have been commonly cleared for agriculture and urbanization.

The CMM’s Department of Aquatic Resources and Fisheries Management will be replanting trees in a cleared riparian zone along River Philip outside of Oxford, and we are looking for help!

Join us on Wednesday, April 23, 2025 to help restore this riparian zone back to a healthy state.

Transportation will be provided from The CMM building to the worksite in Oxford, and back.

Bus leaves at 10:00AM and will return around 2:00PM
