Statement from Sipekne’katik Chief and Council

Indian Brook, Nova Scotia – The Serious Incident Response Team has reached out to Sipekne’katik Chief and Council. We are participating in discussions as required and will continue to cooperate as part of their ongoing investigation.

At this time, Sipekne’katik First Nation respectfully requests that all media outlets refrain from contacting the community, Chief, Council, or staff. Our priority is providing support to our community members during this difficult time.

We ask for the media and public’s understanding and respect for our community’s privacy while this work continues. Further updates will be shared when appropriate.
