RE: Confederacy of Mainland Mi’kmaq and the Sipekne’katik Housing Inspections
Sipekne’katik First Nation, with help from the Confederacy of Mainland Mi’kmaw Nations (CMN), will complete a community-wide housing condition inspection program starting this September.
This means trained CMN staff will visit homes in the community alongside a representative from Sipekne’katik to assess the condition of the housing stock and identify required health and life-safety repairs.
These inspections will create an inventory of houses and their components and generate a repair plan to help our community better allocate housing repair resources.
This is an ongoing project covering all units across the community, with teams aiming for roughly 85 units per month, Monday through Thursday. Thank you in advance for your cooperation and support as we carry out this work.
What you can expect:
• Sipekne’katik will call or stop by to set up a time.
• The inspection duration is between 30 minutes and 1.5 hours.
• The CMM staff members will be accompanied by Sipekne’katik housing staff.
• Inspections will take place Monday through Thursday.
No preparation is required from our members!
