Announcement: Announcement: Urban, Rural and Northern Indigenous Housing Strategy Grant applications now open! 🏠
Sipekne'katik First Nation is excited to launch a new grant program offering up to $5,000.00 to eligible off-reserve Band Members who are Elders, Persons with Disabilities, or At-Risk of losing their housing. This initiative is funded through the Atlantic Policy Congress for Urban, Rural and Northern Indigenous Housing Strategy and own-source revenues contributed by Sipekne'katik Chief and Council.
Important Note: This grant has a total budget that is not to be surpassed and is available on a first-come, first-served basis. We can only fund the first 40 eligible applicants.
🔑 Who is Eligible?
You must be an off-reserve Sipekne'katik Band Member and fit ONE of these categories:
Elder (55+) or Person with a Disability (must be an off-reserve homeowner).
Person At Risk (Youth aging out of care, members fleeing violence, 2SLGBTQIA+ community member).
🛠️ How Can the Funds Be Used?
The grant can be used for one of five purposes:
For Homeowners: Energy-saving renovations, mobility access renovations, or mortgage relief.
For At-Risk Members: Rent supplements (deposits, first month's rent, rent hardship, moving costs).
